Artist Information

Lesley Anne Cornish

Lesley Anne Cornish lives in North Devon and has painted and taught for many years. While still accepting commissions, Lesley now paints mainly for her own pleasure and hopefully for the enjoyment of others. Lesley has run art workshops, teaching small classes in private studios in Berkshire, Wiltshire and Spain as well as private tuition. Lesley Anne Cornish was privileged to be Chair of Swindon Artists Forum for many years, and now runs Torridge Arts and Crafts group. Lesley’s work hangs in many homes in the UK, from Scotland to Cornwall, plus exports to Spain, France, Texas, Florida, Boston U.S.A. Canada, Germany, Finland, and Saudi Arabia , she has also had one of her abstracts 'EXODUS' featured as the front cover for a German Magazine Cicero. Lesley's mantra is that "In Art you never stop learning". Talking about her work, she says " I am mainly self-taught, using acrylics, oils, watercolours and inks, or anything else I find in the art shop! My work is very varied in subject, style and mediums, as I am not restricted to one formulaic method of painting; from traditional oil portraits to wild ink abstracts and everything in between. My chiaroscuro portraits are very popular, as are my freestyle land and seascapes inspired by the beautiful Devon countryside and coast. I love to experiment with new techniques and perceptions, but also continue to work in the more established methods. Whenever I get the opportunity and space I indulge in large feature canvases, mostly abstract. Among the many artists I admire are Turner, Mark Rothko, Van Gogh and Edward Hopper."
